Friends! How many of us have them........in Korea?!

Us at church in Korea with our new friend, Kelly.
From Left to Right: Me, Shannel, Neesa, Kelly, Natarsha

I am not alone. I've been blessed to have the ability and the opportunity to share this great experience with friends from my alma mater and hometown. I am from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area and I attended and graduated from Norfolk State University in May of '06. I arrived here in Seoul, South Korea on October 4, 2007. Since then, I'd like to believe I inspired 3 of my friends to also come to Korea to teach English. One of them might be led to say I convinced her to come. However, I ensured her that she would not regret her decision to come.

We're at Cold Stone celebrating Natarsha's birthday.

Two of my three friends here attend the same church I attend in Washington, D.C., New Samaritan Baptist Church where Bishop Michael V. Kelsey, Sr. is the senior pastor (he's my uncle too). This is where we all met and it is also where our friendships have grown. Gratefully, I can say that they are here with me, making this experience very comfortable and even more enjoyable than it was before they arrived. They arrived together on the same plane a couple of days after Chrsitmas so we were able to celebrate New Years together. The New Years Celebration was one of my first blog post. Check my archives. Both of them are in near by cities so we link up a few times a month to chill and see the sites.

Shannel, my third friend, and I attended and graduated from Norfolk State University. We were more like associates than friends in school. We always spoke when we saw each other around campus but we never really sat down and had a real conversation and got to know each other. It's funny how things work out though. You never know if, how, when, or where you will see someone again. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would see her again in Korea. That's just crazy to me. I mean... I was on Facebook a while back and she sent me a message to see how I was doing and I told her that I was doing well and that I was in Korea teaching English on a year contract. Everything after that is history. She is here in a city not too far from me, about a 45 min bus ride away. So it's cool. We've become good friends. Oh! She is also my soror. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and I am a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
