3 Months Already

Anyang Haseyo (Hello),

Forgive me for not making contact with you all much sooner. But I am still here in Seoul, South Korea. I am doing very well I might add. I have seen and experienced many things since my last presentation. Oh, and I have taken a lot more pictures too. I know that two or three holidays have gone by without you hearing from me but that is what will make the following post all the more… heart-felt (smiling).

Look at my buddy above, Daniel. He's practicing his Taekwando. He is so funny. Well, now that you all forgive for being missing in action, this is what I’ve been up to. I have had time to take and gather pictures of my many experiences and activities. When you get a chance, take a look at the many photos I have collected.

Korea is treating me very well. The accommodations here are pleasant. I like my apartment. It is very comfortable. I haven’t slept in a twin bed since I’ve lived on campus but it’ll do. In Korea, instead of central heat, they have heated floors. At first, I was trying to understand why, but after a while, I understood. Heat rises! Then after experiencing its comfort, I realized that if your feet are warm, eventually your body will be as well. Isn’t physics great!

I enjoy my job. I’m a preschool teacher at a “Hagwan.” Hagwan means a school that teaches English to Koreans. It’s funny; I’m a homeroom teacher. Remember when you were in preschool, that first classroom you? The class you went to at the beginning of the day and went back to at the end of the day? That was your “homeroom class.” I teach Language, Science, Art, Gym, and Picture Diary. I have 10 seven year old kids in my homeroom class. I rotate with my co-teacher who is Korean. She has a homeroom class with 8 six year old kids so we rotate back and forth. My Korean co-teacher’s name is Raina.

Raina Teacher

The kids call us by our first name with “Teacher” on the end. So my name is Christoph Teacher at school. Them calling me “Christoph Teacher” would be the same thing as them calling me Mr. Jenkins.
